Birth as a Hero's Journey

This workshop shows you how to envision & experience

Birth and Life as a
Hero's  Journey

Innocent     Caretaker      Huntress      Warrior      Mother

Another innovative, mind-blowing workshop
from  Birthing  From  Within

Presented by Pam England

This bold, compassionate, experiential workshop quickly cuts through assumptions and old ways of thinking, freeing participants to envision and enact an inspiring new paradigm for life transitions, birth preparation, and finding new meaning in all of our stories.

Pam England poetically and passionately tells beloved, ancient hero myths that parallel our own lives and births. She illustrates the heroine's journey and outlines the timeless tasks of preparation, the ordeal, and our return: tasks we must complete to achieve personal freedom and spiritual growth.

Everybody begins this journey as a Chil
d, often as a Victim-Child. Nobody begins the journey as a Hero or a Warrior.  It is the Ordeal, and what we do with it, that awakens and cultivates the Huntress, Love Warrior and Hero-Mother within.

In this workshop you will learn how to listen to, and tell, life stories in the context of The Hero's Journey. When we really listen to mothers telling their birth stories, we know in our bones that more information, more technology, and more "trying to get it right" has not, and will not, make mothers birth normally or awaken their inner-Love Warrior. The Love Warrior is the inner-voice that can be likened to internalizing a nurturing parent; it is the part of ourselves that never abandons or judges our self when things go "wrong."

Intellectual and outcome-focused thinking gives all of us a superficial and even false sense of knowing and power. When life and birth do not go exactly as planned, we may feel betrayed, powerless and wounded. When this happens, we can experience birth and life as a Victim's Journey.

Pam England began offering this workshop as an antidote to the growing number of parents and birth professionals who feel victimized, powerless or betrayed. Now she is expanding this workshop to reach everyone who is seeking personal freedom and new meaning in their life stories.

Depending on the length of the workshop, here is a sampling of what you may learn from "Birth as a Hero's Journey":
•    The difference between a rite of passage and the Hero's Journey.
•    Classic stages and tasks for the emerging hero.
•    Universal symbols and Great Stories depicting the Hero's Journey.
•    How to activate and feed the Huntress.
•    How to make a Storyteller Labyrinth.
•    How to find new meaning in your life and birth Story.

A special note to people who work with parents:
Every hero's journey begins in innocence and trust.  Whether they know it or not, new mothers & fathers need direction and guidance to counter the pervasive message that birth is a "victim's journey." Childbirth preparation has become limited to information-gathering. Preparation needs to be soulful, and it needs to cultivate inner strength and determination to the Ordeal, and to find their way "home," they need a mentor, a storyteller, a voice of wisdom to teach them how to 'hunt' and to listen to the Voice of their Love Warrior.
