Designed to nourish you from the inside out, these two days (attend one or both days, with option to stay on-site Friday night at the venue, a beautiful private estate) will provide a deep dive into your calling, your challenges and gifts, and restore your heart and spirit through mythology, art, mindfulness, journaling, group work, movement, and more.
We have specially created these offerings for those who work with pregnant, birthing, or postpartum families (including doulas, educators, midwives, nurses, holistic practitioners, etc.). This is an experiential retreat, not an educational or skill-building training, so no contact hours will be awarded. You have four different options to choose from, depending on your interests, budget, and schedule (scroll down for more details and fees).
Friday, March 3rd: 10 am to 5 pm
Spend a day with others who care deeply about birth in our culture and personal work. Commit to nourishing your body, mind, heart, and spirit with a variety of inspiring, guided multi-sensory self-awareness processes. You will leave feeling restored, rejuvenated, and connected-- with self and with others. Meaningful guided activities include: art-making, movement, reflective journaling, mindfulness practices, group dialog, and more. Fee includes all supplies, lunch, tea, and snacks. Bring your own notebook or journal.
Saturday, March 4th: 9 am to 4 pm
The story of Queen Inanna's Descent into the Underworld is thousands of years old and provides a powerful template for women's personal journeys of initiation and healing. Hear a creative, soulful re-telling of this myth, made relevant and potent to the modern woman and birth-worker. Then, through art, journaling, and other creative processes, explore the symbols, characters, and many meanings of the story as it relates to your life, work, and relationships. Come away from this enriching, compelling day with a new perspective and an open heart. Fee includes all supplies, lunch, tea, snacks and the Inanna Journal, created by Pam England.
Full Two-Day Retreat includes: ALL of the above, PLUS Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, shared overnight accommodations, and access to the splendid pools and grounds. No session is planned for Friday night: you can hang out on the grounds, in the heated salt pool, or explore nearby Ojai.

This retreat is part of a longer training for BFW Mentors, of which these two days are open to the public, including birth workers, mothers, and and pregnant women.
Enrollment is limited and we expect both days to sell out quickly.
Supplies and lunch are included. Lunch is from 12:30-1:30 both days; special dietary needs will be accommodated. Please give us at least one week's notice; ideally, include this info when you register.
Unfortunately, babies and children are not permitted on-site.
Active mentors (as of 3/3/17) get a special discounted rate as listed above (this is INSTEAD of using your mentor discount code; you cannot use your mentor discount code in conjunction with the mentor rate).
If you cancel by Feb. 20, you will receive a full refund (less 10% admin fee).
If you cancel after 2/20 but at least 24 hours prior to start of the first day of the retreat (Thursday, 3/2 at 9 am), you will receive a refund, less 25% admin fee (if we can fill your spot with someone from the wait-list, then we will only deduct a 10% admin fee.); OR we can hold your complete balance as a credit (valid for 2 years, good on any books, products, or events in the BFW store).
If you cancel within the 24-hour window before the start of the first day of the retreat or once the retreat has begun, NO refunds will be given. We will hold your balance as a credit, less a 25% admin fee. No exceptions, even in the case of being called to a birth. We strongly urge you to have a back-up if you are on-call.
