Doula From Within™ Workshop
BIRTHING FROM WITHIN®'s Doula workshop and certification program are unique in many ways and do not replicate any other training program. We invite all birth-related professionals (aspiring, new, experienced or already certified) who offer emotional support to parents in the childbearing year to attend this training for professional enrichment and inspiration. Your Doula From Within training begins with the two-and-a-half-day Introduction to BIRTHING FROM WITHIN (Level One) workshop where you will learn a holistic, solution-focused approach to interviewing, motivating and teaching parents, including several pain-coping practices you can share with parents before labor and even teach at the bedside in labor. Your journey continues with the additional six-hour immersion just for doulas (immediately following the Intro workshop). We believe new and experienced doulas and birth-related professionals benefit from: new inspiration, a fresh perspective, and peer support cultivating communication skills and learning a delicious, indirect style that motivates and teaches parents before, during, and after birth participating in a BirthStory process. You will experience, and take with you to use again and again, a simple process that will help you "clear" out any residual grief, trauma, or judgment after witnessing a difficult birth.

How to conduct lively prenatal interviews (that teach!) Speaking the language of Laborland Identifying and meeting the special needs of fathers, partners and families Etiquette and building rapport with birth professionals How to process your experience after each birth (to prevent gradual birth trauma that may lead to burn out)
If you want to become a BIRTHING FROM WITHIN Doula You must take both the Introduction Workshop and the Doula From Within Training, then enroll in our Doula Certification Program. You may also choose to enroll in our Mentor Program as well. Find out more about our Doula Certification Program and Mentor Certification Program. Note about Workshop Schedule: In 2007, we begin offering our new Doula training-workshops and our new dual training and certification programs (Mentor plus Doula Certification). This means all Level One Introduction Workshops will be back-to-back with the (six hour) Doula From Within Training so you can conveniently take both during the same weekend. This training can be taken for contact hours/continuing education credits. We invite all participants to join our Certification Program (attending this workshop is the first step), but it is not required.
