Practical Tools for Meaningful Sessions

Hello and welcome, we're so glad you have chosen Birthing from Within to support your continued growth and learning!
Often as birth workers, we struggle with how to fit all the things we want to do prenatally with clients into the little time we have with them before their birth.
How do we make the most of the time we have with our clients? How do we make decisions about what to offer and what to leave out?
In this two session class, you will learn ways to:
Understand what knowledge and experience your clients already have, so you can meet them where they are and prevent wasting time with unnecessary repetition.
Identify the most important elements of birth preparation, and how to effectively present them.
Use engaging, multisensory activities for exploration of what can happen during the birth journey.
Invite clients into a coping mindset that prioritizes resilience and flexibility over outcome-focused thinking.
This workshop is presented in spoken English. Automated captions are available. We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. This course is two sessions of two and a half hours each. There will be one ten minute break offered in each session.
Before the course.
-
-Journal/notebook & writing utensils
-Blank paper (the larger the better)
-Art making materials (chalk pastels preferred, but colored pencils, crayons, or paint pens will also work)
In session one, we will use ice as a way to experience sensation and your response to it. Please get or make ice cubes before our class sessions.
-Cloth or paper towel
-Bowl for ice
If ice is not obtainable in the area where you live, or is culturally inappropriate, the instructor will offer alternative ways of practicing.
