This is a special opportunity to attend an Advanced Retreat WITHOUT the usual pre-requisites. That's right: No forms, recordings, or packets need to be submitted to your Advisor. Just read Labyrinth of Birth, Ancient Map for Modern Birth, and The Four Agreements or Toltec Wisdom-- and you can attend! We're even taking your word for it that you read them-- no book reports or paperwork needed. (Of course, the more preparation you do, the more you will get out the retreat, but don't let that hold you back!) All Active BFW Mentors are invited! (And you earn 30 RN contact hours--ideal for nurses, midwives and doulas.)
Make a $50 deposit to hold your spot. We expect this Retreat to fill quickly, so make your first deposit NOW. It is applied to your room/board fee, and is non-refundable, but will be held as a credit if you cancel at least 2 months ahead (before Sept. 6).
Workshop begins 6 pm on Monday, Nov. 6 (you can arrive after 4 pm), and ends at 1 pm on Sunday, Nov. 12.
FEE INFORMATION (read carefully!):
All-inclusive: If you pay in full before June 1, your total cost (tuition, meals, room) is $1315. For lowest price, pay by May 15 and cost is only $1265. (And deduct any deposit you've already paid.)
Room/board deposit of $300 is due by June 1 ($100 of which is totally non-refundable) and is applied to your room/board fee. This includes six nights lodging, plus three delicious meals a day (mostly local and organic) with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. (READ BELOW AT ** for specific details on accommodations and meals). Prices include all meals, tea, snacks, goodies, etc.
Balance of room/board fee is due July 5 (This is date on which we are committed to paying for a certain number of rooms at the venue; this fee is paid to the venue, and is therefore non-refundable from this date forward.) For the standard dorm room, this balance is $290.
Tuition: Tuition payments are refundable (less a $50 admin fee), when cancelled prior to Sept. 6. After Sept. 6, we will refund half, and hold the balance (less a $50 admin fee) as a store credit. If cancelled less than three weeks prior, tuition payment will be held as a credit (less $50 admin fee); no portion will be directly refunded.
Early-bird Tuition: $725 when paid in full by June 1.
Regular Tuition: $825 when paid in full by September 6. We are happy to work with you on a payment plan. Any tuition payments made AFTER September 6 will be charged a $100 late fee (unless prior written arrangements have been made with the BFW office)
Repeaters: There is a waiting list for ALL repeaters (including Advisors); those wishing to repeat need to pay $300 deposit to be put on the waiting list. That is no guarantee that the repeater will get in, but we will do our best to accommodate everyone. We should know whether there is room or not for you before Sept. 6. We will, of course, refund all money if there is not room. Repeater tuition is $400, and we expect you to help Virginia with various tasks (set-up/clean-up art area, set out snacks, fetch ice, etc.) throughout the retreat.
Please note: Children are not permitted at this venue. All participants must sleep on-site (no commuters).
Even if you have pre-paid the tuition in the past, you MUST pay both deposits (total of $350) in order to guarantee your spot; this is applied to your room/board cost.
**ACCOMMODATIONS: We will have our own Casa, set apart from the rest of the buildings on the property (see photo in this event listing). This is where our meeting room and sleeping rooms are. We will have meals in their central communal dining area, and there will be other groups on the property and possibly at meals as well. Room options/pricing as follows: the primary sleeping option is dorm rooms with bunk-beds (6-10 people in a room, depending on how many people attend). There are two large shared bathrooms, with plenty of toilets, showers, and sinks. They are simple accommodations, and this is what keeps the cost as low as possible. There are VERY limited options for people who do not want to share a room with 5 or more people. There is ONE double room (with possibly of a second) in the Casa (no private bath: still using the large shared bathrooms). And there is one private room with a private bath-- this is located in the central area of the property. IF you know for sure you want a private room with private bath, you will need to pay in full for it by June 1. We may be able to reserve 1 or 2, if there is demand, but would need your commitment ($) and decision asap.
Massage is available on site: $75 for 60 minute massage (not incl. tip). You can sign up in the main office when you arrive.
Travel: About 3 months prior to the start of the retreat, you will receive a detailed confirmation letter, with packing lists, other supplies/preparations, and travel details. Please do not purchase your flight more than 2-3 months ahead, and always get travel insurance. We will use the Facebook event as way to arrange carpools or car rentals to get to La Casa de Maria. The Los Angeles Int'l airport (LAX) is the closest large airport, and is about 2-2.5 hours drive away (depends on traffic!). You will need to arrange your own ground transportation to Santa Barbara from LAX. We will provide you with options. If you take the SB Airbus or Amtrak to Santa Barbara, we can help arrange a ride from the bus drop-off location or train station. You can also fly into the Santa Barbara airport (SBA), which is about 35 minutes away. We will help arrange a ride from the airport.
